What is Telemedicine and Virtual Care?

Virtual care is a modern approach to your Naturopathic Medicine consultation. At AWH we see patients from all over Ontario and as such we are set up to provide an amazing and streamlined telemedicine experience. 

When booking a telemedicine appointment you will be sent a link to our secure video platform. All you have to do is click the link that we send and Dr. Sarah will appear for your appointment. After your appointment is complete all appointment notes and protocols will be sent via our secure electronic medical records platform. Supplements are also available for purchase and delivery via our online store. 

Who is eligible?

In order to be eligible for telemedicine you must reside in the province of Ontario

Conditions that we regularly treat via telemedicine include:

  • Immune conditions such as frequent illness, certain autoimmune diseases
  • Hormonal imbalance such as PMS, period cramping and pain, heavy periods
  • Acne
  • Weight loss resistance
  • Digestive issues
  • Fertility and preconception
  • PCOS
  • Endometriosis
  • Thyroid issues
  • Perimenopause / menopausal symptoms
  • All wellness programs

Conditions not suited for telemedicine, as regular physical exams are indicated, include:

  • Cardiac conditions
  • Acute care- such as assessments for UTI or acute infections
  • Certain pain related conditions – please ask for more information.

How to book an appointment?

In order to book your appointment you can email us at info@advancedwomenshealth.ca or call 613-572-4294. Please specify that you are looking for telemedicine.

What happens after I book?

After your appointment is booked you will be sent your intake forms online via our electronic medical records software. If you have had any labs that you would like to be reviewed as part of your appointment please email them in advance. Additionally, if you would like us to request your past medical reports from your physician please let us know and we will provide you with an authorization of release.

On the day of your appointment you will receive an email with all of the instructions as to how to access your consult. Never fear, it is simple! And if any issues arise then Dr. Sarah will call you for your appointment.

Paying For An Online Appointment

Upon booking your appointment you will be asked to provide the credit card information that you would like to use for appointment billing.  If you do not have a credit card available, please contact us and we can provide information for how you can pay for your appointment via e-transfer. Please note that if you will be paying for your appointment via e-transfer, you will be required to pay the full appointment fee prior to your appointment. 

Additionally, we also offer direct billing. If you are interested in this option please let us know upon booking so the paperwork can be filled out prior to your visit. 

Appointment FAQs

Is a telemedicine appointment covered by insurance?

Yes – having an appointment by telemedicine  will still be covered by insurance.

What if I need labs prior to my appointment?

We ask that you book your appointment first and then email us to request a lab requisition. Your credit card on file will then be charged for the lab fees, and you will be emailed a receipt. 

**Please note: in office testing mentioned throughout the website cannot be performed during telemedicine appointments
