Advanced Women's Health

March is Endometriosis Awareness month!

Did you know that it can take up to 10-15 years to get diagnosed with endometriosis in Canada? At Advanced Women’s Health, this just isn’t good enough. We are on a mission to shake up and break those statistics.

In light of Endometriosis Awareness month, we are pleased to spread the awareness by bringing you free weekly workshops all month long! Introducing Endometriosis Awareness Wednesdays! Every Wednesday evening in March from 6-7pm, we will be hosting an hour-long workshop, consisting of a 15 minute talk focusing on a new endo-related topic each week. Each talk will then be paired with an ultra-gentle 45 minute “yin-storative” yoga class specifically designed to ease tension within the abdominal and pelvic areas to help manage pain and stiffness.

Our weekly schedule:

Wednesday March 6: endo awareness

Endometriosis is a chronic disease that occurs when cells that typically grow only in
the lining of the uterus are found elsewhere in the body. Endometriosis affects an estimated 10-15% of women. The disheartening reality is that people often suffer with the symptoms of endometriosis (such as painful, heavy periods, pelvic pain, digestive issues, fertility challenges and more) for over 10 years before getting a diagnosis. Let’s talk about what endometriosis can look like, and what to do if you may be affected.

Wednesday March 13th: living with endo

Endometriosis is one of the most common causes of painful, heavy periods. From
severe ovulation pain, painful intercourse, challenges with fertility and digestive issues, endometriosis can creep into every part of your life. Naturopathic approaches to endometriosis care can work in tandem with conventional treatments to accelerate and improve outcomes, or can offer an alternative to folks who may not find relief with conventional care options. Let’s talk about how naturopathic endometriosis treatments can help you navigate day to day living with this chronic condition.

Wednesday March 20th: endo + fertility

Fertility is one of the biggest and most common symptoms of endometriosis. Join Dr. Sasha Monteiro, ND, as she discusses strategies to support you on your fertility journey, including dietary adjustments and the targeted use of supplements to optimize fertility and reduce inflammation. Don’t miss this chance to gain valuable insights into managing endometriosis and enhancing your chances of conception.

Wednesday March 27th: acupuncture + endo pain management

Join Diana (“Dee”) Dorrance, Registered Acupuncturist and Certified Nutritional Practitioner, to talk all things acupuncture and endometriosis. We’ll discuss the evidence-based benefits of acupuncture for managing pain and improving quality of life with endometriosis. If you’ve been curious about acupuncture and the role it can play in your healing plan, this is a great opportunity to learn the basics and ask questions.
