Feeling like you want to move your body again, but not sure where to start? Maybe the gym feels intimidating, past attempts have led to more pain than progress, or you’re dealing with discomfort that makes everyday movement feel challenging. You’re not alone — and there’s a gentler, more sustainable way forward.
At Advanced Women’s Health, physiotherapy is about meeting you exactly where you are. Our physiotherapy program combines evidence-based physiotherapy with holistic movement practices like Pilates and yoga to help you restore strength, ease discomfort, and rebuild confidence in your body. Whether you’re recovering from injury, navigating pregnancy or postpartum, or simply want to feel comfortable moving again, we support your wellness journey one intentional step at a time.
What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession focused on restoring function, reducing pain, and improving movement through hands-on treatment and therapeutic exercise. At AWH, our approach goes beyond traditional physiotherapy — we integrate principles from kinesiology, Pilates, and yoga to create personalized movement programs that honour your body’s natural healing process and our personal preferences for movement modalities.
Physiotherapy @ AWH is ideal for anyone who:
- Wants to start moving their body but feels uncertain or overwhelmed
- Experiences pain or discomfort during exercise
- Is recovering from injury or surgery
- Needs support during pregnancy or postpartum
- Wants to return to activities they love with confidence and ease
How Many sessions will I need?
Here’s what a typical plan might look like:
- First follow-up: After your initial appointment, we usually like to see you within one week. This helps us check how your body responded and adjust your treatment plan as needed.
- Acute pain or injuries: For new or painful conditions, care is often more frequent at the beginning — typically 1- 2 visits per week for the first 2–4 weeks. Most people notice improvement within the first few visits, and as symptoms ease, we’ll gradually space out sessions.
- Average cases: Many people with less urgent concerns start with visits once or twice a month, then transition to supportive care as their goals are met.
- Supportive or maintenance care: Once you’re feeling strong and mobile, ongoing check-ins every 4–8 weeks (or as needed) help maintain progress, prevent setbacks, and keep your body moving well.
Our goal isn’t just to reduce pain — it’s to help you move better, feel stronger, and return to the activities that matter most to you. Whether that’s getting back to the gym, running around with your kids, or simply feeling comfortable in your daily life, we’ll work with you to create a plan that supports your whole health.

Ready to Get Started?
We offer a complimentary 15-minute meet-and-greet to answer your questions and see if physiotherapy is right for you.
The Physiotherapy Process:
Step 1: Initiate
Comprehensive Assessment
Your first visit is all about understanding you. In this 60-minute session, we’ll review your health history, current concerns, symptoms, and goals. Eliana will complete a thorough clinical physiotherapy assessment that may include:
- Movement patterns – observing how your body moves and identifying areas of restriction or compensation
- Range of motion & flexibility – assessing joint mobility and muscle length
- Strength & stability – evaluating how your muscles support your movement
- Posture & alignment – understanding how your body carries itself
- Pain & symptom patterns – identifying triggers and contributing factors
Together we will decide which movement modality, clinical Pilates, yoga and/or traditional PT exercises, will set you on track to meet your goals. Passive modalities such as manual therapy and cupping, will be used as adjunct treatments to support your movement journey.
Step 2: Elevate
This phase aims to improve your mobility, strength and function, slowly elevating how and where you show up in your life. During follow-up sessions you will be guided through exercise progressions using therapeutic, intentional movement to address imbalances identified during your initial assessment. Every treatment plan is unique and customized for just you! This phase can include working with the Eliana (PT) for Clinical Pilates, yoga or traditional PT exercises, and /or Hannah (PTA) for Clinical Pilates practice. Session frequency and duration can vary depending on several factors. A customized collaborative care plan between patient and physiotherapist, will be created to meet your specific needs, interests and goals.
Physiotherapy Services @ AWH May Include:
- Movement assessment – Identifying patterns that may contribute to discomfort or injury
- Therapeutic movement – Clinical Pilates, therapeutic yoga, and functional movement training
- Manual therapy – Hands-on techniques to ease muscle tension, improve joint mobility, and reduce pain
- Personalized exercise prescription – Progressive home programs designed to support your progress between sessions, evolving as you do!
- Education and guidance – Helping you understand your body and move with confidence
Phase 3: Integrate
Bridging the gap between physiotherapy and returning to your favourite activities and hobbies can be confusing and tricky to navigate on your own. This is where we come in! We will take the time to provide a systematic and supportive transition into maintenance. We will provide exercise programming and coaching to facilitate a successful integration of what was learned during sessions back into your real-life activities. Careful consideration will be taken to ensure tolerance and confidence, as you integrate back into the things that make you you! This phase can include supportive online resources, such as online Pilates and yoga videos created by us, for you to use at home.
